What do you like best about Truman? The countless opportunities to succeed, to be able to do undergrad research, and to acquire scientific knowledge in different areas of interest. What has surprised you about Truman? The amount of organizations and resources that transfer students can count on in order to perform well in the classes. What do you like most about your classes? Even though some classes are very challenging, I like the fact that the classes are small, leaving room for discussion and active class participation. What do you feel is unique about Truman? The personal attention and interaction with faculty. I also believe that Truman's rigorous curriculum provides a very solid foundation and preparation for graduate school, as a scientist, and or a professional. Have you studied abroad, done an internship, or participated in undergraduate research? I participated on the summer 2008 in the STEP program with Dr. Campbell "Determining phenotypic variation for starch content among amylomaize VII inbreds with an enzymatic method". In addition, on summer 2009 I participated on the Merck program at Truman with Dr. Cooper and Dr. Lockhart assessing water quality in Forest Lake by applying molecular methods such as PCR and RT-PCR in order to identify sources of fecal contamination. What are your plans after graduation? I plan to go to graduate school in the field of ecological genomics or bacterial genetics. I would then like to obtain a PhD and be a teacher-scientist
