What attracted you to teaching at Truman? This is a dream job for because of the wonderful, highly motivated students. I also love living in a small town (I get to walk to work every day -- what a privilege) and love the beautiful campus.
What do you like best about teaching at Truman?I feel like I am continually learning more about my field (History), right alongside my students. This really is a learning community.
What has been your greatest accomplishment or success while teaching at Truman? My greatest success has been hearing from students years after they leave here. The fact that they take time to stay in touch makes me realize that professors have the opportunity to shape lives. What an honor.
What do students seem to like most about your classes?I think they like the open environment to discuss issues of the past and how they impact our world today.
What graduate schools are some of your former students attending?Stanford, Notre Dame, Cooperstown, Purdue, Harvard, and many more
What careers have some of your former students entered? Many have gone into teaching, but also public history (museum studies) and law.
What appeals to you about Kirksville?I like the ease of life.
